Everyone knows that the kitchen is the heart of the home, which is why our ski condo renovations began there. In our small, 1,100 square foot ski condo turned home, we wanted to create a kitchen where people could gather comfortably and be all together.
Island
Our island has bar stools for three and is a place for snacks, buffet-style dinner, or people to sit while dinner is being made. When we have company, this is where a majority of our time is kept, even if someone stands!
Dining Room Table
Otherwise, we overflow to the dining room table if we have more people or a more family or formal dinner. We like the look of these metal chairs to combine a more industrial look with the rustic, mountain feel and were pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and sturdy they were!
Sink
We always look for style and trend but find ourselves wanting things that are SO expensive and over our budget, so we often turn to IKEA to solve both of these problems. Farm sinks, for example. start at $500 and can go upwards of $1,000. Yikes. This one from IKEA was less than $200 and has been great and cute too. Am I right? This particular sink is sold out, but here is a similar version.
Counters
Butcher block counters can be a great investment, if you want to shell out the cash. We didn’t. So again, IKEA was our go to for these Black Walnut counter tops. They were inexpensive and easy to install. They were so cheap that we thought, let’s try them and if worse comes to worse, we will just rip them out and try something else. So far, so good.
Check back for my post on how our IKEA purchases are holding up and if we’d use them again.
These super cute ski resort posters were made by Kirk’s dad. Keep your eyes out for them featured in other rooms of our home.
