I LOVE the look of painted brick! If I buy a brick home or a home with a brick fireplace (I had two before painting brick was even an idea), I for sure would paint the brick! I lean to the German Smear(?) process but I’ve not tried it so painting might be faster. I love the white or cream look but now that I see the other options you included….?? 🙂

It’s such a great way to freshen up your place! 😊The German Smear is a cool look but definitely more labor intensive 🙈

I used to be on the fence about painting brick, but the more I think about it the more I like it! I have a house right now that needs some updating. I am concerned because I have a brown roof, but I love the off-white pained brick look. I have seen some houses with this combo, but what to do about the door color? Any suggestions?
Miranda Yogan says
It’s such a great way to update a house when you’re tired of the current look! Without seeing it, I would probably lean toward a white to contrast the roof and the paint! Will you be replacing it soon? If you were within a year, you could paint it whatever color you wanted if you didn’t mind waiting out the mismatched color 😀 Let me know what you decide!

Hi! Can you please tell me the name/brand of the BLUE paint? Trying to find the right shade and that looks like it! THANKS!
Miranda Yogan says
Hi Sue! I’m not 100% sure on the blue color but it’s very similar to Sherwin Williams Seaworthy or Benjamin Moore New York State of Mind.

We are wanting to paint the brick on our home but, I’ve heard that you have to be really careful of the type of product that you use. Can you please explain the different types of product? Our house is a one story brick home with some sort of a sand wash over the brick. What should we use?
Miranda Yogan says
Brick is an important factor when deciding on what paint solution to go with! So is climate because you want your paint to hold up to your area’s amount of rain, sun, etc. Do you have a Shewrin Williams near you? I’ve always found them to be very helpful when picking paint products, and their pricing is reasonable! Even if you don’t buy their brand, they can give you a better idea knowing your typical climate and brick. I hope this helps!

Some great ideas and detail here. Would you also have the roof tiles sprayed in a contrasting colour?
Miranda Yogan says
A contrasting tile would look great but I don’t have experience in spray painting a roof. I worry that it would lessen the integrity of the shingles and cause damage. Maybe do a smaller tester area to see how it works!
