Finding and establishing a toddler bedtime routine can be stressful. Instead of a bedtime battle every night, use these tips and tricks to create the perfect nighttime routine. Calm your toddler for peaceful, all night sleep with this soothing toddler bedtime routine.
If you are anything like me, you love bedtime. Don’t get me wrong, I love hanging with my son all day but taking care of a toddler is exhausting. Bedtime is when I can finally have a few minutes to myself, do a little self care and spend time with my husband.
If you aren’t as excited about bedtime as I am it’s either because you are a super mom and love spending all day long with your kids or because you are facing the nightly bedtime battle. Having a toddler is super tricky! They are learning tons of new things and wanting to have more independence. Both of these are great, except they practice both of these at bedtime. Instead, if you create a soothing and calming toddler bedtime routine, you can get your toddler into a routine and squash the nightly battle.

Story Time
A bedtime story is a great way to send your little one into dreamland. Read a 3-4 books or about ten minutes to continue allowing your little one to unwind and calm down. As your little one gets older, let them choose the books!

Even if you little one is only a only has a tooth or two, brush his or her teeth to get rid of germs and prevent decay. It’s also a good habit to get your little one used to early.

Songs
While your toddler is awake, sing him a song or sing together. You can sing anything really! Sing slowly and peacefully to help your toddler feel even sleepier. Some songs we like are twinkle little start, row your boat, you are my sunshine and the wheels on the bus.
Sleep
Turn out the lights, put on white noise and lay down your little one awake with a pacifier or a lovey. The white noise is a great tool because it helps lessen house noise. Plus, the noise, pacifier and lovey are all great cues that it’s time to go to sleep. Save your toddler’s lovey for nap and nighttime only. Every night, leave with similar words like ”I love you” or ”Goodnight”.
Keep in mind that all great things come with time and practice. Start your toddler bedtime routine around the same time every night with a goal of getting her into bed around the same time too. Practice this routine and I’m certain within a week or two you will see results in your toddler going to bed more easily.
